Another town, another time, another everything- It's always back to you

It's been an interesting 24 hours.
The Boy and I got into a difficult text message exchange last night, and when it evolved to a phone conversation I was left shaking my head. It wasn't a bad conversation, really, and two months ago it was a conversation that would have made me insanely happy because it was predicated on him wanting to spend time with me. But after our May and June, I'm not sure what it means for me or for us. There's still a lot of damage to be undone and a lot of trust to be rebuilt, and I find myself still questioning if repairing us is worth it. Is he really, at the end of the day, who I need? Can I embrace the imperfections that are inherent in our flawed, messy relationship and be happy, or do I need to move on? I know....none of y'all can answer that for me. I honestly don't know where things will go. Stay tuned.

Reckless in Hailey was nothing short of wonderful. Terrific show, and a great crowd. I hid behind the merch table (actually had a great line-of sight to the stage!) and ended up helping David with some stuff when he got busy. I'm thinking it's a sign of some sort that I'm now getting set lists passed to me without asking when the show is over- that made me giggle last night.

And Hailey....I've got a crush on a town in Idaho, kids. The Hailey/Ketchum/ Sun Valley corridor is all beautiful, and it leads up to the Sawtooth Mountains (which are arguably one of the most dramatic and beautiful ranges in the Rockies). I have a serious itch to spend some time traipsing around in the Sawtooths, but I suspect that will have to be a "next summer" sort of thing. In the meantime, Hailey was great. It's a small town, definitely, but has some very nice creature comforts in terms of the grocery, restaurants, etc. It does need a bookstore closer than Ketchum is the only "minus" I can think of. Sun Valley and Ketchum have more creature comforts than Hailey, but they're a little more like lots of other ski towns in the Rockies. Hailey still has that hippie-ish vibe to it, and I love that quality. Short version? Don't be surprised if regular dispatches from Hailey become part of this place.

Happiness/ Gratitude List, 3 and 4 July version:
  1. My amazing supper in Hailey last night. It was a gustatory experience, I enjoyed every bite, and I'm grateful for it. (See the fitness/ nutrition blog for my confession!)
  2. Live, soul-healing music. Even walking in to the show with my head spinning because of The Boy, I had an amazing time and it took my confusion/ angst away for a couple of hours.
  3. Seeing the stars from a place like Hailey. Since it's a small town away from ANY big city light pollution is lacking, so you're able to get a different perspective on the Milky Way than you do from here. I forget how many stars there are out there....
  4. The Sawtooths. Even living up against a mountain range, they awe me.
  5. My friends and family, all of whom put up with the shit when it happens and who share the joys. I wouldn't trade them. Ever.
