People I've loved, I have no regrets

Hmmm...first day back. No complaints, really. I have a good resident and student team to work with, we got the service pared down a bit more today, and I think some actual learning occurred. So far so good. Sadly, my left foot did not appreciate the 12 hour day of running amok. My tummy is implying that my caloric intake didn't appreciate it either- I may need to throw an extra snack in.

Happiness/Gratitude List, 25 July 2008 edition:
  1. Getting a great workout in this morning before work. And my day that expanded to fill a vacuum made me remember why I work out early when I'm on clinical service.
  2. The really nice welcome I got back to the Unit today. It's part of my makeup to need to feel appreciated for the work that I do, and I definitely did today.
  3. My best efforts to the contrary, I still know how to iron. Don't tell my Mom that I haven't ironed anything since I moved into the house around this time last year (until tonight). Oof-just realized my Mom reads this. Busted!
  4. I got invited to be a discussant for a paper at a meeting in November. Just when I hit near-bottom about my career I get a nice reminder like this that I must be doing something right.
  5. My creative pinch-hitting at supper time when I realized that most of the raspberries for my raspberry-mango-avocado salad were not really usable. I wasn't happy about having to be creative, but I was creative. Now I have to figure out what will tide me through tomorrow since I really didn't want to drive anywhere tomorrow and I'm NOT walking to the store in 100 degree heat.
