Ah, home. It's good to be here. It's my quiet place, my sane place, my nest.....and the token kitty greeting makes it all the sweeter.
Speaking of kitty, for those following the saga, I think The Princess is okay. She's still on close monitoring by me, but her weight held while I was out of town and she's being a little silly and active tonight. Her grooming still isn't back to usual, but I'll see if I can't encourage that in the next day or so. Anyway, I'm less worried , at least for now. Thanks for any kitty prayers you've sent for her. She's old and asocial with everyone else, but I'm awfully attached to her after 15 years.
The meeting stuff today was good, maybe some of the best stuff of the 3 days. I really had the chance to meet some spectacular women who are going to do some tremendous things, and that alone probably made it worth the trip. I do think I got some good ideas and improved focus, too, both of which are great things to have. Most importantly, I've decided to change my game plan for the Robert Wood Johnson award I'm applying for because I realized as I pondered that my absolute research passion is quality of life....I mean, I'm super-curious about that whole resuscitation project I want to get designed, but I see that as a diversion with major potential. Quality of life I get excited about, and since there are so few of us doing it that's what I should keep chasing. Right? :)
Alright, list time, then bed time....
Happiness/ Gratitude list, 15 July 2008 edition:
- I believe we got Amy's application package for the Clinical Scholars Program with the College submitted today. I'm very excited about this, and I would be delighted to see her get the opportunity. It's a perfect fit...though I know we can design something great for her if she ends up staying "home".
- Coming home to a Cassi who is more like herself. I'm taking it as a sign of improved health, and not simply a reflection of her missing me when I'm gone (since she chooses to have no other friends).
- Getting headbutted by the Boy Cat while I was doing tricep push-ups earlier, towards the end of my workout. He's a darlin'
- Continuing to feel good about my decision to just come home and skip a stop in Cleveland. It was the right thing to do.
- A very kind , thoughtful email today. It made me smile. Being appreciated = really nice.
Off to the shower then the bed. Morning comes too early....
