Ah, someone who articulated my Sarah Palin issues far better than I am able.

The Worst Vice-Presidential Nominee in US History

Honestly, her nomination strikes me as something between tokenism (see Clarence Thomas or Harriet Miers and their Supreme Court nominations here) and pandering (women will vote based upon having a uterus, and since she obviously has one let's nominate her!).

Either way, it's not acceptable. I would love to have a woman in the Presidential or VP slot if they are truly acquainted with the responsibilities of the job and have the background and education that makes them likely to be successful. While I wasn't a Hillary fan, she knows the job description and she has a background and education that would make her capable of succeeding. I don't see Governor Palin meeting either of those criteria- particularly with her admission today in Pennsylvania that she's not visited much of the U.S. It's awfully hard to understand where people are coming from and what their concerns are if you haven't met them where they live. And as much as I love Alaska, it's not where most Americans live. Hell, most Americans don't even visit it in their lifetime; it took me 34 years to get there.
