Okay, I have to get one more in before I leave for the airport.
I read this on Jezebel today.
And while I respect their viewpoint that women in very ambitious business track-careers are faced with difficult decisions, I'm just pissed that they think work-life decisions for this group of women are more difficult than those of us in academic medicine. We're on a similar time-line, we have similar pressures for advancement (heard of "tenure", folks?), and our hours are likely to be even more abysmal and far less controllable.
I'm willing to acknowledge that it's a tough road for lots of us and that glass ceilings are still being hammered upon. "Anecdotally speaking" my ass- look at the numbers of women in academic medicine. Or in tenure-track academic positions in the sciences or engineering. Then get back to me.
Harrumph!
