You drove away with tears in your eyes, the only thing left to say was goodbye

1. Making the decision to skip 7 a.m. conference. I needed the extra 45 minutes of sleep, and I'm grateful I got them.
2. People who advocate for us in the most unexpected ways and unexpected places. And in so doing provide us with things we direly need.
3. Having two people remind me in a that I'm not the "new girl" at work or in the surgical community anymore, that my experience and knowledge put me on a par with almost anyone. I still have trouble wrapping my brain around this at times. I keep praying for the grace to remember what they are telling me because these two people are too wise to be wrong.
   
4. A phone call from a good friend- "just to check up on you". Reminders of the lights in our lives are amazingly empowering.
5. Hearing from another friend whose home- remarkably- also made it through Ike unscathed. So much for her genius idea for a FEMA trailer housewarming party (and I'm so grateful we didn't have to!).
6. In the chaos/exhaustion of last week I entirely missed the 18th anniversary of "I have a cat, a pair of pajamas, and my Aggie ring". That fire changed my life like nothing ever has, and while I wouldn't want to go through it again I also wouldn't trade where it has led me.
