Somehow when I left work around 2:30 a.m., there wasn't much else being written. It had been a long day of editing and writing- and a little clinical work- and I was just done. But I was appreciative of a smile from someone who makes me happy on my way out the door; seems our timing as he returned from a flight was impeccable.
So, tonight I'm sitting here on the couch still exhausted. I'm tottering around the house in a pair of 3 1/2 inch heels to decide if I really can keep them; they're plum patent and stunningly beautiful and I want them to work. I fear, however, they may be a "sit still and look pretty" shoe and we all know how well I don't do that "sit still" thing. We'll see. If I decide no, they must be sent home to Zappos. They were a little too spendy to keep just for admiration.
Other than those, I have few to no coherent thoughts. Such is 3 1/2 hours of sleep in my world these days.
Happiness/ Gratitude list, 20 October 2008:
- The grant is almost, almost done. Almost. That's why I was working until 2:30 a.m.
- One of the residents telling me how much she appreciates my advocacy for them. It's funny because most of the stuff they really appreciate is when I go to bat for them out of a sense of justice. Nevertheless, it's always good to have acts of kindness recognized.
- Speaking of....chocolate being delivered after I've had a long night and day? Enough said. Even if we both got so completely distracted that we forgot about the chocolate.
- Bed. Now. And feeling NO guilt.
