Today would rate as "spectacular" in a simple sense.
I ditched actual church.
I worshiped from the Collins Lift at Alta, something that is always good for my soul.
I spent some time this afternoon reducing the New Yorker backlog around the house. Belle! helped.
I went to my favorite Restore yoga class in the late afternoon. Lucy is amazing. I always leave feeling refreshed and ready to conquer the week and the world.
On a less serious note, a few thoughts from skiing today since it was my annual equipment shake-down:
- WHAT was I thinking when I went back into racing shells for my boots two years ago? Once I'm in them, I'm kind-of okay (see next bullet). But getting into them? 20 minute wrestling match. I felt like an idiot. At least one of the parking lot guys came over to talk to me and make me laugh while I was struggling.
- I need to find my sock liners. I need the extra 1/4 inch in all dimensions they'll give me inside the boots. Regular ski socks today? Painful. Seriously painful.
- I think it's a new helmet year; I've evidently packed out the insulation in the old one. I was chilly more than once on a relatively warm day which means I'll be hosed in February when it's actually cold. I'll miss the Power Puff Girl stickers on this one, though.
- I love Deep Powder House for the perfect wax on my skis. They nailed the temperature and the conditions.
- Even a short day on mediocre snow while I'm trying to get gear issues ironed out is better than any day of being a responsible adult :) I'm just annoyed with myself for taking last winter, and most of the prior winter, off. Stupid, stupid, can't change it so I'll just do better this year.
