TGI...Friday. Yet another installment. I blame any and all typos on Belle!, who is walking back and forth between me and the MacBook. She's cute and sweet, but I wouldn't say she's being "helpful".
Today I am trusting that I can get my long list of academic "to do" projects handled in a timely fashion. The list is really, really long right now- like I don't know how it got this long. That said, a great deal of it is still clean-up from my prior incarnation as a trauma surgeon so once those projects are done they're gone forever. I've got myself convinced that if I make it to December 1 that I'm golden. Based upon the due dates of everything, I honestly think that's true.
Today I am grateful for a wonderful evening with friends who I don't get to see enough. I know, many of my friends fall into that category. That doesn't make time like this any less special.
Today I am inspired by simple acts of kindness and good manners. As I was leaving my favorite produce spot today (Liberty Heights Fresh) with two giant bags a kind man who was shopping with his two year old son stopped to hold the door for me and told his son, "Let's wait just a moment to hold the door for the lady." I had a lovely short conversation with them about their Friday adventure they were on as we walked to our cars. Simple acts of kindness are wonderful (I'm a sucker for good manners, and being raised in Texas means that I don't really think that chivalry is dead), and I was even more inspired by how gently and patiently this little boy was being taught to treat people with respect.
So, share with me. What are you trusting? What are you grateful for? And what is inspiring you? Seriously, it's worth pondering....just for a moment. It keeps things in perspective.
