TGIF....and I'm off service (at long last). My Friday went nothing as planned but improvisation sometimes works out just fine. In today's case, my plan to leave work-> get gas->pick up CSA->eat lunch-> nap->pedicure were replaced by leave work->get gas->have car battery die->get battery replaced while eating lunch and drinking porter at The Bayou (with the lovely Iris!)->pedicure->pick up CSA->going to bed before 10 pm. A little different than Plan A but worthwhile in the end. As frustrated as I was about the battery, better today than any other day this week when I had patient care responsibilities.
Today I am trusting that I'll be able to dig my way out of the avalanche of paperwork in my office. It's really bad this time. That said, I'm not thinking about it at all until Monday.
Today I am grateful for friends who magically appear when you most need someone to lean into a bit. And to make you laugh.
Today I am inspired by music and lyrics. I've been listening to Ben Harper and Relentless7 "Fly one time" repeatedly this week- and doing so as much for the lyrics as the music. Today, however, is Rodney Crowell's birthday, and I believe it's worth recognizing how long he's been an amazing songwriting force. The song linked below he first wrote in 1975 and was performed by Emmylou Harris and the Hot Band. Beautiful stuff.
