When do the walls tumble down?

Um, so, it seems I missed last Friday.  It had something to do with a field trip to Portland, food debauchery, and an icky upper respiratory thingy.  Portland was amazing, food and company were incomparable, and the icky thingy is almost gone.  It's been a Spring of this for me, and I'm ready to move on, please and thank you.  And no, I didn't get the half marathon checked off of the 44 by 44 list.  I'll kick it down the road to the new list that's due...uh...sometime this week.

Today I am trusting in subtle shifts.  I'm the most optimistic about some changes at work that I've been in a LONG time and that feels good.  I'm not expecting perfection next week (or ever, realistically), but I'm encouraged.

Today I am grateful for the opportunity I had last weekend to recharge and reconnect.  Portland was actually fairly restful, it was good to be away and in a beautiful place, and I was privileged to spend my weekend surrounded by some kind, thoughtful, FUN people.

Today I am inspired by this list of 12 Most Striking Tendencies of Creative People.  I've been doing a fair amount of risky creative work recently, and it's nice to have that space I've been in reinforced.  And yes, risky creative work is possible in medical/ surgical education.  Trust me.  I'll let you know if I go down in flames (but I won't).

Now listening:  Rules of Travel, Rosanne Cash in honor of her birthday yesterday.  I honestly had forgotten what an amazing album this is.  Highly recommended!
