It's the first Friday night in a while that I haven't been staring at a suitcase (and pondering my associated travel fatigue). It's good to be home, and great to be here for a month this time. Best of all, the two June trips are short ones, allowing the rest of life to not be too disrupted. The suitcase gets old, as does sleeping in not-my-bed, being in not-my-place.
Today I am trusting that my focus on "things that are working well for me" will continue to nudge me forward. So very, very much I want to get done...so very, very few hours in a day.
Today I am grateful- as I often am- for my students. It's been a week of quite a few thank you notes and conversations, and it's those moments that keep me going, keep me chasing this craziness that keeps me busier than I want to be (though I can't imagine giving any of it up).
Since we're talking teaching, today I am inspired by this interview about restoring educators with the five principles of engaged teaching. I've learned that #3- being present- is a HUGE deal, and makes students far more accepting of my imperfections as a teacher and a person.
With that, I'm off to revel in this little thunderstorm that blew in. Beautiful!
