From the sky we look so organized and brave

It's a lovely, quiet Friday night here at the Casa de Kita and Kitties after a busy but productive week.  Yes, there are a few more things that I could have finished.  No, I'm not going to lose sleep over them this weekend.  And no, I'm not going to work on them this weekend either.  I'm taking time off.  Because I can.

Today I am trusting that I really will get all of things done, and that taking a couple of days off will re-energize me for the administrative tasks that aren't exciting me (syllabus, anyone?!?).

Today I am grateful for safe travels.  For amazing friends who bring joy into my world with them.  For ridiculous cats.  For sweet dogs.  For too many things to count, really.

Today I am inspired by a simple comment that a student made to me this week.  It was, simply, "We look up to you."  It was an amazing and eloquent reminder of why I spend so much of my time with the students- I can't imagine doing anything else that provides that sort of positive reinforcement.

Now listening:  Jason Isbell "Flying over water"  (Sobriety and his 30s are treating him well as a songwriter and musician.  Go get Southeastern.  Now.  You'll thank me later.  Right, Trisha Dean?)
