I wanna go faster, I don't wanna slow down, I don't wanna get off of this merry-go-round

This morning as I was headed out to walk the dog, KRCL tempted me with one of my favorite Rodney Crowell songs, one that I somehow haven't listened to in way, way too long (see embedded video).  Friday soundtrack then turned into his "Fate's Right Hand" album.  Y'all know my love for amazing singer-songwriter-musicians.  I think Rodney is on my "Top 5 of all time" list, not just because he's a Texan.

So, this week.  It's been...well, interesting.  Frustrating.  Rewarding.  A little scary at times as I stretch my teaching comfort zones (Aack! Simulation!).  Exhausting and energizing.  Filled with beauty.  And somehow, at the end of it all, the pieces come together and form an amazing whole.

Today I am trusting  that I'll be effective in getting a few more loose ends tied up this week.  I can't count on getting ANYTHING done until...well, until I get back from the Chicago 3-Day walk since I'll be hustling out of here when I come off service to be there.

Today I am grateful for, as mentioned above, the pieces that come together into an amazing whole.  It's all messy and rich and beautiful, so very beautiful.

Today I am inspired by David DeSteno's PopTech talk from 2012 on compassion, resilience, and how to nudge those things.  This is 18 minutes well-spent, I promise, and it's full of interesting ideas.  His concept of an "automatic" approach to expanding compassion by looking for similarities is remarkably simple.  Will you try it with me?
