It's a lonely world, I guess it always was

Friday, and though I'm trying to start getting myself organized for a little business jaunt this week (well, Helsinki might be more than a "little" jaunt), it's time to pause.

Today I am trusting that things are unfolding just as they should.  This applies to multiple areas of life right now.

Today I am grateful for so many small acts of kindness that have buoyed me the last couple of weeks.  They've been a lovely reminder of how wonderful the people in my life are.

Today I am inspired by a New York Times "Modern Love" column published yesterday.  While many of her thoughts struck me, this one was particularly timely:
"This is what dogs teach us:  to love and to risk losing and to love again."  In my world, cats too have brought that gift.  But on this cool, rainy day when I brought Kita's ashes home, this sentence reached me the most.
