It's later in the evening than I expected or intended, but I committed...so here I am.
Tonight's stem phrase?
Some ways to nourish my physical self are...
- Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants. (With apologies to Michael Pollan for stealing his lines, though they are true)
- Minimize the sugar and "junk." Admittedly, they're more the exception than the rule. But I know that I feel c-r-a-p-p-y with them. Why do that to myself?
- Don't eat it just because it's on my plate. Eat it because I enjoy it and it makes me feel good.
- Yoga. Stretching. More yoga. More stretching.
- Livvie walking. This activity covers so many dimensions.
- Run, but not too much or too far (getting back to this, finally, now that 3-Day season is over)
- Lift heavy weights at least twice a week.
- Try new ways to move my body, just to see what they're like.
- Sleep. I'm trying to not laugh as I type that since I know this is a chronic struggle. Sometimes I'm still like that little kid who is afraid of missing something if I go to bed.
- Get regular massages/ facials/ pedicures. While they're seemingly frivolous treats, they are also wonderful sources of relaxation and self care. Which reminds me of an appointment or two that I should make...
